Hand painted mouse pine cone ornaments. My grandfather, born in the Pacific Northwest, would point out how the "brachs" on the Douglas Fir Pine Trees look like little mouse butts running into the pine cone and the story goes that they are running into the pinecones to get warm.  On the backside of each pinecone there is a poem that reads:

On cold nights,

When the air nips their noses,

And the frost stings their toeses,

the mice find shelter

in their pinecone homes,

gifted to them

by the great fir trees.
